When it comes to crafting a winning video strategy, the first question to ask is—what videos should you make for an effective video marketing strategy?

Rather than wasting your time talking about all types of video you could create and how they could potentially work. I’m going to cut the chase and tell you the seven videos that all local businesses should create. I’m also going to start with the most important ones and work my way to the others that you still should create but can take some time to complete.

Let’s imagine a potential customer you’re trying to target and go through the flow of messages that will lead them to a purchase.

Your first message has to catch their attention quickly and make them curious, wanting to learn more. This is what we call video ads or offer videos. Next they may come to your main website where they want to get the main idea about your business. They may next find a video elsewhere on your site that gives them more information about what your relationship will be like and how it will improve their life. They may also want to learn about why you do what you do so going over to see a video explaining your why. Videos about your products help them refine their choice and testimonial videos build confidence knowing others have purchased with a good experience. Finally there usually is a video or two needed to help a customer progress through your business like a pre-call video or a post-purchase video.

I went through that quickly so let’s break each one down.

These are your front-facing marketing videos that give a reason for new customers to try you out. We’ll help you figure out what those offers should be so that you’re bringing in new excited customers without giving too much away. It’s important to make the viewer curious and help them see how they can move away from their painful situation.

I compare this to your elevator pitch if you’re familiar with that. Basically this video gives a high level view of your business and the value you provide all while building intrigue so the right customer wants to learn more. You only have 60 seconds so you have to stay high-level and can’t explain everything.

This video can go two ways depending on the type of business and product you offer. After someone is intrigued by your main video they want to learn more. That’s this video. You’ll either explain more of how you work as a company or how the customer is going to get the promised outcome.

If your service is a more known-purchase like your dental office, then you’ll want to show what it will be like for them to come to your office. You’re basically showing the unique things they’ll experience when they come in even before they’ve stepped in your door.

This is one of the most overlooked videos for most businesses. It’s easy to think this isn’t important but it truly ties into the physiological reasons why a person will buy from you. I’ll talk more about this later but basically in this video you’re explaining who is behind your company and the unique start and growth to your business.

This is where you’ll create clear videos to your offerings. You’ll make one for each of your main products or product categories if you have a lot.

Online reviews are important but having customer testimonial videos on your website and social media are extremely powerful tools. I’ll show you how to make this a part of your business.

Another often overlooked set of videos however this can be a huge time saver for you and your staff as well as continuing a great impression and process for your new customers. These are videos that you send your customers after they’ve purchased from you helping build a relationship with them.

I have a few bonus videos for you to consider as well that I’ll talk about later on.

Each one of these video categories I’ll break down into more detail next. I’ll answer the question of how to write scripts for these and come up with creative ideas for these videos. I’ll make this easy for you so that you’re not having to pay hundreds or even thousands with a professional copywriter.

But before I end this video I also recognize that I’ve made some strong promises of your business growing. I’ve given examples with growth numbers. Keep in mind that the growth of your business comes in two ways through your video content.

One, you will see new sales and conversions from your video ads and this may very well be your focus in taking this course. However, keep in mind that the second is by gaining more brand awareness. This is equally important however not immediately evident.

If you’re a mattress store and your community starts seeing your video content, they probably won’t run down to your store to buy today. Keep in mind that a mattress is an every-ten-year type of purchase. The investment you make in building your awareness will pay off long-term when that person is ready to make a large purchase.

On the flip side, if you’re a new restaurant in your community, it’s likely that there is a big hype to try you out. People are curious and want to see if this is a place they’ll like. Investing in your brand awareness will keep people coming back months down the line as well as could convince people to try you again if they didn’t have the best experience the first time.

By having this balanced mix of videos you’ll have the best of both worlds–you’ll see immediate results with conversions of new customers from your video ads and the long term value of brand awareness from your other videos.
